A key aspect of implementing the Ecosystem Approach in the Mediterranean involves monitoring and assessing the status of the marine and coastal environment. To establish a coherent regional framework, the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention adopted the Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Programme of the Mediterranean Sea and Coast and Related Assessment Criteria (IMAP).

In this context, SPA/RAC is launching this consultancy to revise existing monitoring and assessment scales, assessment methodologies, and criteria, as well as to develop baseline and thresholds values for IMAP Common Indicators (CIs) related to benthic habitats for the three habitat types (Posidonia, Coralligenous, and Maerl) based on the recommendations of MedQSR 2023.
