SPA/RAC, in collaboration with REMPEC, will support the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention to develop and strengthen an effective SPAMI management, in particular through PSSAs identification in relation with SPAMIs as well as the formulation and submission of applications for designation of PSSAs in areas that may favour a better management of EBSAs, FRAs and/or SPAMIs.

In this context, two consultancy calls have been launched by SPA/RAC and REMPEC to enhance knowledge and capacity among the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention (with a focus on the Adriatic sub-region) regarding the identification and designation of PSSAs within EBSAs, FRAs and/or SPAMIs, to support area-based management, including through an Adriatic workshop and a Mediterranean seminar celebration on December 2019.
