At their 19th Ordinary Meeting (COP19) held in Athens in February 2016, the Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention took the decision (Decision IG.22/110) to prepare the Regional Framework for ICZM and to submit it for adoption at their next Ordinary Meeting (COP20) to be held in Albania in 2017.

In accordance with Art. 17 of the ICZM Protocol, PAP/RAC, as the UNEP/MAP Component in charge of coordinating the implementation of the ICZM Protocol and its Action Plan for 2012 -2016, was entrusted to coordinate this important task, too.

Given the complexity of the task, which will include thorough desk work to examine relevant documentation, drafting of the text of the Regional ICZM Framework, and extensive consultation process with stakeholders at the regional (Mediterranean) and national levels, all this within a rather short period of time, a core group will be created for its implementation.

For that purpose, the PAP/RAC launches a call for applications to support its staff members by a team of consultants including:

• two consultants (team members) with experience in coastal management issues ; and
• one main consultant (team leader) with experience in implementing the Barcelona Convention and in particular its ICZM Protocol.
