After having been missing for almost 9 year, the green turtle (Chelonia mydas) has been able to nest at the beach of the Tyre Coast Natural Reserve (TCNR - Lebanon) twice this summer 2014 thanks to the efforts helping to reduce light pollution in the touristic beach of TCNR since the last year.

In fact, almost 400 lamps in the 49 kiosks of the beach have been covered in collaboration with the Tyre municipality and the kiosk's owners.

The monitoring in 2012 of two turtles, a green and a Loggerhead, through satellite, in collaboration with RAC/SPA and the Stazione Zoologica Anton Dohrn of Naples has prooved that the Tyre coastline has a suitable foraging ground of high biodiversity for both species. Thus, great efforts are made in order to help protecting these threatened species.
