Dans le cadre de la mise en œuvre du "Plan d'action pour la conservation des espèces d'oiseaux inscrites à l'annexe II du Protocole ASP/DB" et afin de combler de nombreuses lacunes dans les connaissances concernant les oiseaux côtiers et marins dans la Méditerranée, le CAR/ASP a, pendant plusieurs années, soutenu l'organisation de recensements hivernaux des oiseaux d'eau en Libye, en étroite collaboration avec  l'Autorité Générale de l'Environnement (EGA). Beaucoup d'autres organisations nationales et internationales ont participé à cette activité.

Ce travail de terrain a permis de recueillir des données précieuses qui ont servi de base à l'élaboration de  "l'Atlas des oiseaux d'eau hivernants en Libye".

Le CAR/ASP a eu le plaisir de contribuer à la mise en place d'une équipe d'ornithologues nationaux et internationaux, qui ont montré beaucoup d'enthousiasme et de passion à travailler ensemble en Libye.

Le CAR/ASP voudrait profiter de cette occasion pour féliciter cette équipe, qui a travaillé si dur et remercier toutes les organisations nationales et internationales, qui ont aidé dans le travail sur le terrain et/ou dans la préparation de cet Atlas, en particulier l'Autorité Générale de l'Environnement (EGA, Libye), l’Accord sur la conservation des oiseaux d’eau migrateurs d’Afrique-Eurasie (AEWA), "Wetlands International" (WI), l'L'Institut supérieur pour la protection et la recherche scientifique pour l'environnement (ISPRA, Italie), l'Office national de la Chasse et de la faune sauvage (ONCFS, France), "Vogelbescherming" Pays-Bas (VBN), la station biologique de la Tour du Valat (TDV, France) et le Conservatoire du Littoral (France).

Cet Atlas a été présenté durant le side-event du 14 Mai 2012 lors de la 5^ième session de la réunion des Parties contractantes à l'AEWA (La Rochelle, France)

As part of the implementation of the “Action Plan for the Conservation of Bird Species listed in Annex II to the SPA/BD Protocol” and in order to fill many gaps in the knowledge concerning coastal and pelagic birds in the Mediterranean, RAC/SPA has, for several years, supported the organisation of winter waterbirds census in Libya in close collaboration with the Environment General Authority (EGA). Many other national and international organisations have participated in this activity.

This field work has allowed the gathering of valuable data that has formed the basis for developing the “Atlas of wintering Waterbirds of  Libya”.

RAC/SPA have had the pleasure of contributing to the setting up of a team of national and international ornithologists, who have shown great enthusiasm and passion in working together in Libya.

RAC/SPA should like to take this opportunity to congratulate this team, which has worked so hard and thank all the national and international organisations, who have helped in the fieldwork and/or for the preparation of this Atlas, particularly the Environment General Authority (EGA, Libya), the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA), Wetlands International (WI), the Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (ISPRA, Italy), the National Office for Hunting and Wildlife (ONCFS, France), Vogelbescherming Netherlands (VBN), Tour du Valat Biological Station (TDV, France) and the “Conservatoire du Littoral” (France).

This Atlas has been presented during the side-event programme of May the 14^th 2012 at the 5^th Session of the Meeting of the Parties to AEWA (La Rochelle, France).
