SPA/RAC launches a call for consultancy to develop criteria for a comprehensive inventory of marine ecosystems with the highest ecological relevance and regeneration potential. This effort supports Action 12 of the Post-2020 SAPBIO on restoration.

The consultancy will focus on identifying ecosystems such as Posidonia meadows, coralligenous assemblages, wetlands, and dune systems. These ecosystems serve crucial functions, including acting as nursery areas, storing carbon, preventing coastal erosion, and mitigating natural disaster impacts. The outcomes will help the Barcelona Convention Contracting Parties in conducting full inventories and initiating restoration activities that promote nature-based solutions in priority areas.
