07/24: Evaluation of the Regional Action Plans Approach for species and habitats conservation

The SPA/RAC is launching a call for consultation to evaluate the approach of the Regional Action Plans for species and habitats adopted under the SPA/DB Protocol, and to identify recommendations for the way forward in the light of the new Global Biodiversity Framework, the Post-2020 SAPBIO and the EcAp/IMAP processes of the Barcelona Convention.

The Regional Action Plans or Strategy concerned are the following:

  • Regional strategy for the conservation of Monk Seal in the Mediterranean
  • Action Plan for the conservation of marine turtles
  • Action Plan for the conservation of cetaceans
  • Action Plan for the conservation of marine vegetation
  • Action Plan for the conservation of bird species listed in annex II of the SPA/BD Protocol
  • Action Plan for the conservation of cartilaginous fishes (Chondrichtyans) in the Mediterranean Sea
  • Action Plan concerning species introduction and invasive species
  • Action Plan for the conservation of the coralligenous and other calcareous bio-concretions in the Mediterranean Sea
  • Action Plan for the conservation of habitats and species associated with seamounts, underwater caves and canyons, aphotic hard beds and chemo-synthetic phenomena in the Mediterranean Sea (Dark habitats Action Plan)
  • Restoration Programme of Pinna nobilis
